This stylized form of dance is loosely based on traditional folk dances and adapted for stage. This class is integrated with the study of classical ballet to develop musicality, poise and expression. Students use character shoes, character skirts and props- this is very fun!
POINTE & PRE POINTE
Both challenging and rewarding- dancing en pointe is truly for the Elite dancer! A progression of classical ballet technique, pointe work is introduced first though strengthening exercises of the feet and legs in demi-pointe or technique shoes. When a ballet student has achieved sufficient strength, age, and control of the body she may safely practice in pointe shoes. Performing en pointe on stage is truly an accomplishment and a privilege earned!
